MASSILLON – A new eatery and a drive-thru coffee shop are among businesses preparing to make a mark locally.

Construction is likely to start this summer on Panda Express and 7 Brew Drive-Thru Coffee near Space Shop Self Storage facility at 2600 Lincoln Way E.

7 Brew Coffee is targeted to open between Chipotle restaurant and O'Reilly Auto Parts, both of which are within the 2500 block of Lincoln Way E, according to David Maley, Massillon's economic development director.

Panda Express is slated to be next door to a new Starbucks coffee shop, across from the Home Depot shopping area on Lincoln Way, Maley said.

"You're going to see construction on both of these (businesses) start in the next couple of months," he said.

Mayor Kathy Catazaro-Perry announced May 22 to City Council that 7 Brew Coffee and Panda Express were making their way to Massillon.

"We're so excited to see more businesses coming in," the mayor said.

Panda Express is a family-owned business, opening its first restaurant in 1983. It has more than 2,000 locations, including along Dressler Road NW in Jackson Township in a plaza that also contains Target and Kohl's. The casual, fast-food concept had been known for its locations in food courts inside shopping malls but now has stand-alone sites.

7 Brew Drive-Thru Coffee serves multiple beverages, such as a Brunette (hazelnut and caramel mocha), Cinnamon Roll (white chocolate and brown sugar cinnamon) and the Blondie (caramel and vanilla breve). Its menu also has classic lattes, house blend coffee, smoothies, as well as hot and cold teas.

The coffee shop offers a selection of infused energy drinks.

7 Brew debuted with a coffee stand in February 2017 in Rogers, Arkansas. Its website lists about 90 locations nationwide. Currently, the closest store to Massillon is in Indiana.

The Wings, Wheels and Waves hobby and game shop in downtown Massillon is going with a new name starting June 24.

The store has plans to fly under the banner of Wolf Games & Models, according to Emily Robinson, one of the new owners.

Wings Wheels and Waves, 125 Erie St. N, changed ownership in December.
